WILLINGNESS TO TEAM WORK
A volunteer is not a “ soloist”! He/she is an integral part of a team, he/she shares its aims and strategies and works on the same wave-length with the members of the team. If he/she has any doubt or embarrassment, he/she reveals them within the team itself, asking for explanations and advancing proposals or suggestions.

LISTENING ABILITY
Nor is a volunteer “the leading actor”: it is the patient who is in the middle of the stage and his needs guide the actions of all those who take care of him. He/she spends much more time near the patient than health workers, so he/she must be “willing to listen”, which means that he/she has to tune in to the patient, he/she has to understand the words that have been said and the answers that have not been given, he/she has to let him know his/her willingness to share moments that can be time of silence or of thought.
