VOLUNTEERS
IN WARD
The volunteer who works inside a
hospital ward belongs to a homogenous group who acts cooperatively, in
close contact with the team leader, that is a volunteer- leader chosen
periodically by the group itself. Among all the functions described so
far, we want to stress, the help given by volunteers to bedded patients,
such as going on errands for them or organizing entertainment activities
that may help them to spend their long days in a more friendly atmosphere
and may take their mind off the worrying thoughts of their illness and
of their future. The volunteer tries to involve them in activities that
he/she thinks they may be interested in.( card games, knitting or
embroidery for ladies, books, magazines etc.).
